About Becky West
Hello,
I’m Becky.
An illustrator, designer and visual storyteller with a Deaf perspective.
Based in Christchurch, I create digital design and accessible learning resources for the Deaf and disabled community. My work brings together illustration, sign language, moving image and education.

Hello, in my own way.A little of my story
Design begins
with understanding.
My background spans Hong Kong and New Zealand, from language research and teaching to digital design. I’ve worked with students, families, educators and signers, making resources that respond to the way people actually learn and communicate.
At Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education, my work has included film production, animation and digital design. I’ve also illustrated signs for the NZSL online dictionary and teaching resources at Victoria University of Wellington.
That experience shapes everything I create through Sign Language Plus: careful observation, clear communication and a little creative character.
